Basically Taipei is a heaven for food and shopping. Im sure most of those who are into korean and Japan style will love shopping in Taipei as Taiwan is pretty much influenced by both the countries. Im one of those who has Japan and Korean fever and everytime i see those clothes, heels, accessories and other cute litle items, i just can't take my eyes off them. It seems like those items are telling me to take them home.
Taipei serves all kinds of food and i tell you, i just lost count of the variety of goodies they sell. If you are planning to visit Taipei, please please do not miss the night market over there especially Shilin and Rouhe. They just sell way too many delicacies, clothes, heels, accessories and other cute litle items. I can just visit the night market over again and again but still won't get tired of it. Its like every time you are there, you see different things and taste different kinds of nice food.
Some of the pictures below showing you some of the night markets that we went and the different kinds of food that we ate. Sad to say, i didn't take lotsa pictures this time round as i was busy shopping around. Just too bad :P
At different kinds of night market. Just so many stuff to see and food to eat.....
Some of the local delicacies that we ate. There are still many other different kinds of food that we tried but didn't get to snap pictures....
Vic looking happy with his favourite dessert
Basically i am not into Taiwan delicacies. Everyone was telling me im weird cos most of them who went to Taiwan, they are all obssessed with Taiwan food. I guess those food are just not my cup of tea and only a few of those dishes really caught my interest and one of them is the Oyster Mee Sua from the Ah Zong Mian Xian shop.
This Ah Zong Mian Xian from Xi Men Ting is always pack with people. It is very famous and was on TV as well. Of cause we did not miss the chance to try it as well and damn, scoop after scoop. I just can't resist as it just taste so good.
We usually will go after those food stall which are pack with people. That could mean "long queue= food is good". True enough, those food are all pretty tasty.

See i never lie :) The long queue delivers a special message....
This food stall sells chicken chop. The chicken chop is HUGE, yummy and super cheap. No wonder the queue is forever that long.
Food in Taiwan is quite cheap but most of the potion served are pretty small. You will get to see many small food stall all over the city and they usually do not provide any chairs and tables. People in Taiwan especially youngsters just loved hanging out in front of those little food stall, and eat while standing.
One of my favourite shopping place would be Ximending. It has it's modern structures house karaoke businesses, art film cinemas, wide-release movie cinemas, electronic stores, and a wide variety of restaurants and fashion clothing stores. The pedestrian area is especially popular with teens and is usually pack during weekend.

Taiwan is just so famous for its food and shopping. I bought quite a lot of stuff for myself and yet i still think its not enough. Those who are on a budget trip, Taiwan is definetely a place you can consider as the expenses are not very high and the people there are very hospitable and friendly.
Well, I shall end here in part 1. Stay tuned for part 2 of Taipei.
